R.I.P: Autumn in Seoul

It hasn’t been a very good week, weather-wise. With heavy metal-laden yellow dust floating into Seoul from polluted China, the skies have been grey, foggy and soup-like, not to mention, that breathing is kind of dangerous right now. Sigh.

Deathly cold winds blowing in from Siberia and a matching drop in temperature, sure makes one miss the vibrant glory of autumn’s colourfully-hued leaves and crystal clear skies.

So, in a last ditch attempt to hang onto the final dying days of Korea’s most dazzling season, we braved a cold-weather hike up Namsan to the North Seoul Tower, to surround ourselves with as much beauty as possible.

At the top, we were again buffeted by those damn Siberian winds, and soon missed the shelter of the trees on the mountainside. With the sun’s heat quickly fading, we didn’t last long, and it was time to make a quick descent to a restaurant and the filling warmth of one of Korea’s spicy stews.

R.I.P. Autumn. We’ll miss you.

  1. It is getting colder at nights. I love it though. It’s not like it’s snowing. πŸ˜‰ The images here, they look bright and clear. Those clouds are fluffy and look as though they’re within reach. I don’t know about Autumn here where I’m at. It isn’t evident. So I had been ready for layers all along.

    • Haha, I wish the sky were still as clear now. Those photos are from a few weeks ago.

I’ve never lived somewhere without definable seasons. And even though the cold is pretty killer right now, I kind of like the experiencing the difference and change between all the different seasons. Not sure how I would feel if everything kind of blended into one…
