I’ll be heading to beautiful Koh Samui, Thailand with my sister-in-law and a friend, to partake in a 2 week fast and detox retreat.

Will we survive the lack of food, morning yoga sessions and scariest of all – daily enemas?? We’ll soon find out, and so will you!! 🙂

Have you fasted before? Any tips on how to get through it all?

  3. What? Daily enemas? You’re definitely much braver than I am. 🙂

  4. What a ridiculous way to spoil spending time in such a beautiful place! I recommend the beautiful fresh food markets and cheap massages on the beach. Make sure you have travel insurance.

    • I guess you don’t believe in the validity of fasting/cleansing Joanne? I’ve actually juice fasted 4 or 5 times before and gotten great results, so this is just the next step for me.

It’s my 7th trip to Thailand (and we got married in Koh Samui!), so I’ve already done quite a lot of fresh food markets and cheap massages on the beach. It has however taken me until this 7th trip to give all that up and just focus on cleansing. 😉 Best part though…daily massage included!! 😀

      • I should have known you’d have been before! In that, case by all means, cleanse away! I am very glad to hear that massage is included. (As a health professional, I’m not an advocate of fasting unless it is in preparation for surgery or for some stomach bugs. I believe that there are less extreme ways to maintain good health, but I don’t always practice them!) Regardless, I hope you enjoy yourself.

    • Heh heh. We shall see. The experiences might get a little graphic though…haven’t decided how um…detailed I’m going to get. 😉

  6. Wow sounds like an amazing two weeks, very excited to see how it turns out! Koh Samui is stunning, make sure you go to Big Buddha (Wat Phra Yai Ko Pan) at sunrise – it is breathtaking!! Enjoy 🙂

    • Hi Aaron…I’m really excited about it! I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time, but somehow just couldn’t give up all the food and chilling in Thailand before. On this trip, I’m going specifically to fast/cleanse. Which part of the island is big Buddha?

  7. I’ve wondered about a “detox retreat” ever since reading a rather scandalous article in Vogue about them! I look forward to seeing what you think. Good luck! haha

  8. I am jealous! After spending a few days in New York this past week, I definitely need to do one of these mind and body detox thing!! Have a great time!

    May 21, 2014
    • I can see why. New York is definitely an overload of all the senses! but such an amazing and worthwhile overload!! Did you eat all kinds of fantastic food? 😀

  9. We have yet to visit Koh Samui! Looking forward to reading your thoughts on it.

    • I’m getting really excited (and nervous) about the trip! especially about giving up my daily coffee. 😉 It’s coming up FAST!

      • Days always seem to come by fast especially when you’ve got a trip pending. Then all of a sudden, a week before the trip, things someone slow down. Hopefully that’s not the case for you!
