Weekly Photo Challenge: Room

From sketchy beachfront bungalows in Thailand, to a 5 star hotel room in Macau, to camping on the sand in the Thar desert, we’ve experienced quite a wide range of rooms on our travels.

Of course, we enjoyed some more than others, but of all the rooms we’ve been in, the most memorable are from our wedding in Thailand. Not because the places were stunningly designed (they were), but because these were the rooms where life with my most favourite-ist person in the whole, wide world began. :p

The day before our wedding, at The Library hotel in Ko Samui, Thailand

Yes, we are married!!

Together forever now ๐Ÿ˜‰

Don’t we look mellow in that last picture? Would you believe it if I told you we had a full-out brawl during our wedding reception, with flying chairs, broken bottles and a lot of chaos? It sure was unforgettable. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. A brawl?? As in you guys were throwing chairs or the guests were?
We love books A LOT so that library photo ROCKS!

    • Lol… an actual full-out brawl…with the drunk Australians in the hotel next door. They were disrupting the reception, shooting fireworks over our tables, pushing the hotel staff around and calling them by racist slurs. Hubby snapped when a firework landed on his mom’s table, and he led the charge with all his groomsmen, most of the men from the wedding AND all the Thai staff. It was crazy, and a bit scary, but all turned out well in the end, and like I said, it certainly was memorable. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Yikes!!! We get so embarrassed when we hear about “drunk Australians” – their behaviour can be so very disgraceful!
But goodness – sounds very intense but a night to remember no doubt. A story you can retell for years and years to come!!!

        • It was some kind of family reunion and everyone from the age of 14 to 50 was completely trashed and kind of violent. The Thai staff of their own hotel were hiding from them, and the police had to be called several times. Didn’t help much unfortunately, and the only thing that made them stop was having to go to the hospital to deal with their injuries.

But anyhow, it’s such a shame that these kinds of people give Australian travellers such a bad reputation…especially when most are so lovely. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

    • Haha, I should tell you about the first time I met Agri’s mom… (at a jailhouse) ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. I absolutely love the first picture! A Library Hotel? I didn’t know that something like this exists, would be the perfect place for me!

    June 9, 2014
    • Thank you! Yes, it’s a design hotel on Chaweng Beach, and they take the library theme to the max. All the rooms are called pages! and everything is black, white and red. Even the pool, which looks like it has red water!!

  4. The LIBRARY ROOM? I now believe in heaven.

    June 10, 2014
    • Lol… it was pretty fantastic. Especially since this library has a view out to the beautiful blue waters of the Gulf of Thailand. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Haha… now THAT’s what someone would call a memorable wedding… not just for the couple… but for the guests too!

    June 10, 2014
    • Lol…especially for Agri’s friend that ended up with a black eye. Fortunately, he was the only injury on our side…I don’t think the other group fared so well. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Aww, so sweet. Both of you look so happy.

    June 10, 2014
  7. Wow what a story! I love that library picture… One day I’ll have a library like that in my house ๐Ÿ˜‰

    June 11, 2014
    • It was quite the night, that’s for sure. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      June 12, 2014
      • ๐Ÿ™‚ (head shake) I’ll bet!

        June 13, 2014
      • PS. (accidently hit send before I was done)
So unfair to be so rude for someone’s wedding. Usually people are better behaved when a wedding is involved. Ah but as you say… what a story!

  8. Lovely, lovely, lovely captures. So much love and harmony in the pictures. Way to spoil it with chaos. Pffft! Flying chairs sound awesome to see in person though. Ahihihi ๐Ÿ™‚ And Shelley, get your own book to read! ๐Ÿ˜€

    June 12, 2014
    • Haha, if you knew my hubby in person, you would know that the harmony and the chaos all together completely match his personality. Thank god he has calmed down in his old age. I can’t handle the stress. ๐Ÿ˜‰
