It seems that I barely unpacked my suitcase, and it’s already time to load it all up again.

I’ll be leaving hubby behind once more, but only for 10 days this time. I’ll be heading to Miami for 3 days with my detox sisters, only this time, we’ll get to eat! Can’t wait to explore this hotbed of Latin American culture and art deco style.

I head north of the border after that, back to where the beer runs free and the winter never ends. A week in Toronto to meet up with all my old friends, and then I’ll be reunited with my hubby bear once more. We’ve got a west coast road trip on the agenda! We’ll see where the road takes us…

Have you been on a west coast road trip recently? We’re leaving from Calgary and heading west. Any tips on where we should go, where we should stay and what we should do?

  1. Sounds like you’re going to be busy. There’s a ferry from Port Hardy on Vancouver Island and ends up in Prince Rupert. I’ve always wanted to take that trip, but haven’t made it yet. You are so lucky to be able to do this trip.

    • I used to make the drive from Calgary to Vancouver every summer during university and it’s something I’ve really been missing lately. I’m excited to be able to do it now with my hubby, who’s never done it before. πŸ™‚

    • I lived in Toronto for about 10 years and it’s a great city. There’s so much to do and a fantastic food scene too. Really looking forward to returning to see all the changes. It’s been about 4 years since I was there last…

  3. Woo hoo! West Coast! I used to live in California when I was really young. I’m sure you already know that San Francisco is beautiful πŸ™‚

    • I would love to make it all the way down to San Fran! I went many years ago, but hubby has never been and definitely wants to. We’ll have to see how our timing works out.

  4. YAAAY for West Coast!! I’m from the SF Bay Area. πŸ˜€

I did a road trip from here to Portland years ago. It was awwweeessoommmee. There’s the sand dunes somewhere in Oregon, and really nice campgrounds up north. I’ve also done a road trip from here to San Diego as well. It’s really nice along the coast, especially around San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Grover Beach, and Santa Barbara.

    • Oh, and I’ve done a road trip from Calgary to Vancouver, BC when I was a kid. Going through the Rocky Mountains was pretty neat. Then did a roundtrip road trip from Seattle to Vancouver twice in one week, just last year. There’s a scenic highway there.

    • Oooh, sand dunes and campgrounds? That sounds fantastic. I’ll definitely have to do some research into those options. How long did it take you to drive from SF to Portland?

  5. We drove through the mountains a few years back and went to Emerald Lake and just stopped to take in the scenery. Was beautiful. This summer we’re back home and just hanging out before we leave again for China. Will you get down Niagara way?

    • Emerald Lake is absolutely stunning! I’m getting super excited about seeing all the Canadian lakes again… I’ve only got a week in Toronto, before I head west, so don’t think I’ll have time to head that way unfortunately. Enjoy the peace of Canada. πŸ™‚

      • Enjoy your time away. Too bad you won’t get this way. Thought if you were this way we could maybe meet up.
