Weekly Photo Challenge: Dreamy (A Hawaiian Sunrise)

High above the stark volcanic landscapes of Haleakala National Park, a blinding sun rises dreamily through the clouds.

Maui’s sandy beaches, lush tropical vegetation and coffee plantations obliterated by the radiance of our brightest star.

Getting there

In this “house of the sun,” the summit of Haleakala Mountain is the best place from which to witness this sacred event.

The drive up Haleakala Crater Road, to the peak of the mountain can take up to 2 hours. For the best experience, try to arrive at the Haleakala Visitor Centre 30 minutes before sunrise. Bring warm clothes. It’s frigid at 10,000 feet above sea level.

Have you been to Hawaii? What were your favourite experiences there?

    • Lol…to be totally honest, we didn’t make it al the way to the top. We’re not really morning people, but we try from time to time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Through circumstance (airline buddy passes etc…), I’ve visited Hawaii 3 times, but I’m strangely lukewarm to it. Not really sure why. It’s Hawaii after all. Lol…it always makes me feel like I should go back again to see what all the fuss is about… ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Just had a look at your sunset pics… that rainbow one is crazy. I’m still seeing it as an afterimage on my white screen!! ๐Ÿ™‚
