Have you heard of U-World Theme Park in Yeosu? It’s kind of under-the-radar for foreigners, but very popular with Korean families.

It’s a perfect family-friendly staycation chock-full of activities, like a luge track, amusement park, Jurassic kids cafe, and more. Even, better? Everything is walkable, even with young children.

There are also restaurants, cafes, and a Korean sauna on site, so you literally don’t have to leave this place at all. We didn’t. 😂

The best place to stay if you want to spend a night is the Ucastle Hotel. That’s where we stayed and it was incredibly convenient and comfortable with spacious rooms and everything we could possibly need.

You can either book a room and activities separately by selecting certain activities a-la-carte directly at U-world, or choose from all-inclusive packages that include a night’s stay + various activities.

It’s well worth a visit. Our kids had a blast and there was so much to do, it was difficult to squeeze it all into a single 24 hour stay.

Have you ever ridden a rail bike before? 🚞

They’re pedaled along abandoned railroad tracks and through old tunnels, with scenery you normally wouldn’t get access to. They usually come in 2 and 4 person configurations.

Rail bikes are a popular activity in Korea and can be found all over the country. This is the Yeosu Ocean Rail Bike. It follows a rocky coastline, with gorgeous sea views. The track is 3.5-km round-trip.

Decided to hit the infinity pool @aquafield.official on what ended up feeling like the coldest day of the last month.

Excellent planning on our part, I’d say… but at least the kids enjoyed it. 😅

We went early-ish on a Sunday morning and thought it’d be kinda mellow, but it was actually overrun with families inside at the splash pad and indoor pools. I recommend visiting on a weekday if you want even a little bit of peace.

Save and share this post for all the best places to see roses in or near Seoul. 🌹

Even though the rose festivals in Korea are mostly over, there are still plenty of roses (장미) in full bloom all over the city. This is actually the best time to see them without all the crowds!

I took these pics at the Rose Garden in Olympic Park just yesterday. When you’re done being wowed by these gorgeous blooms, you can head up the nearby staircase to see a field of red poppies.

🎇 FIREWORKS NIGHT CRUISE IN YEOSU 🌃

A popular thing to do in Yeosu at night is take a fireworks night cruise. These ferries take you for a 90 minute spin around the Yeosu harbour, and cap off with a fireworks display from the top of the boat.

On the cruise, you’ll see Yeosu’s bridges, skyline, and sea lit brilliantly against the night sky. The fireworks display is literally right above your head. Seeing and hearing them from that close was thrilling.

There’s food and drink served on board, so I’d board early and stake out a good table next to a window. Totally recommend the 파전 - which was super crispy and packed with seafood.

There are a lot of companies operating fireworks cruises, but my friend that lives in the area, said that the Minam Cruise is the best one. It runs on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and boarding starts at 7:30 for the 8:00 cruise. It’s best to book tickets at least a day or two in advance.
