For all you Grand Budapest Hotel fans, Max Dalton’s Moments in Film is on at 63Art in Yeouido - where you can also enjoy excellent views of Seoul from high above.

You’ll find original artworks and illustrations, not only from the Grand Budapest Hotel movie, but also from a huge range of films, children’s books, and LP covers from the 1980s through the 2000s.

I loved seeing illustrations for Amelie (one of my all-time favourite films), Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, as well as a special area dedicated to the films of Bong Joon-ho.

The exhibit is on until October 29, 2023, and all info at the exhibit is in both English and Korean.

Make your own kimchi-themed mobile out of Korean hanji paper at the Hanji Centre in Seoul.

They don’t accept reservations, so you can just show up. If there’s a spot available, you can head in. We were there on a weekend, and walked right in… so there wasn’t a lot of waiting involved.

There are 8 spots available for the hanji mobile, and 4 spots available for making a hanji bookmark. I’ll def be trying that next.

This is a great FREE activity for kids and adults alike. It takes about 90 minutes to 2 hours to make each mobile. Younger kids would definitely need their parent’s help.

The hanji paper hanboks, accessories, and clothing at the Wonju Hanji Festival was breathtaking, awe-inspiring, and so, so beautiful. Can you believe this gorgeous apparel was made from paper?! 🤯

Hanji is a traditional Korean paper that’s handmade from the inner bark of the mulberry. It’s strong, flexible, and used for everything from sculpture to art to architecture.

The Hanji Festival is on until May 15th at the Wonju Hanji Theme Park.

Vitamin Sea 🌊

A quick trip to Taean for sun, sea, and waves was exactly what we needed, after a month of catching rotating virus after virus in Seoul. (mask-free hasn’t been ALL good😭)

BytheO cafe is on Wonsando Island - about 40 minutes drive south from the more well-known Anmyeondo, across a gorgeous bridge, above the vast sea.

It’s the perfect place to watch the sunset, enjoy some tropical feeling drinks, and recharge. If you get hungry, there’s an affordable restaurant below the cafe, serving pajeon, kalguksu, and other comforting foods.
