Moroccan Half and Half
At night, Marrakesh’s Jemaa El Fna Square transforms into a mesmerizing smoke-soaked market, entertainment venue and food haven.
From a distance, rhythmic drumming and the lights of a thousand fires captivate, dividing ghostly shadows and eerie soot filled skies, into a seductive half and half.
Watching from the sidelines, but no less beguiling, a series of dazzling shops, attached so closely, one to the other, that they appear as one, rather than two. Glowing Moorish lanterns and lamps of every shape, size and colour compete with a kaleidoscope of fabrics and slippers, beckoning us helplessly toward them like an oasis in the desert.
Have you visited Marrakesh and it’s amazing Jemaa El Fna Square? What were your favourite experiences. Tell us all about it in the comments below. We’d love to hear from you!
