Gone, but Not Forgotten: Puppy Love

Any pet owner will tell you that the love you feel for your dog or cat is unique and precious. It’s not that we don’t also feel love for our friends and family, but somehow what we feel for the animals in our lives is a little less complicated, a little more pure.

Perhaps it’s because our pets never have expectations of us. They’re never disappointed with our decisions, and they’re always happy to see us. They express a state of unconditional joy and love that can, unfortunately, be rare amongst our human counterparts.

Our little puppy seemed to arrive just when that state of unconditional joy and love was most needed in our family. She provided much needed laughs, comedy and happiness in a difficult time.

In 2004, at the age of 16, long after life had smoothed out, she left us.

The cause? Her heart had grown too big.

Though she’s gone, she’ll never be forgotten.

  2. I love Westies. My first one lived to 16 years as well. He was full of personality. Now I have another Westie who’s 8. It’s amazing how different their personalities are.

    • I think once you’ve had a westie, you can never go back. They have so much personality and are the cutest things ever. Our westie was like a little stuffed doll sometimes. I loved how she would get under the covers and sleep with me, just like a little human. 🙂

Aww, I don’t keep any pets but I always seem to get to attached anyway. Do you plan to keep any in the future?

    December 7, 2014
    • Nope no pets, except for Agri. 😉 Honestly I’d like to have another dog one day in the future, but they are really limiting on your freedom, really like having a child… so I think it might be long, long into the future, when travel is a distant memory… 🙂

    • She will for sure. It’s been so many years since she left us, and I still remember her and her little character so vividly. I’ll never forget her. <3

That’s very sad, at least though she lived a long and happy life.

    • Hi Franca, thanks for stopping by. 🙂 She did live a very long and happy life, and brought us so much joy as well. 😀
