We spent 2 nights at the Venetian Macau, located on the Cotai Strip. We spent our first 24 hours window shopping through the Grand Canal shops, eating egg tarts at Lord Stow's Bakery and Portugese chicken in the food court.
Sometimes I wish I could be one of those people that could just land in destination unknown, without any advance preparation or planning. Someone who could allow the fates to buffet me to wherever it deemed fit.
Macau (also spelled Macao) is one of two special administrative regions of China. Hong Kong being the other one. What this means is that Macau has it's own currency (the pataca), immigration policy, customs procedures and legal system.
When we decided to embark on this last minute little of adventure of ours, we neglected to look into accommodation prices before booking the basically free Aeroplan tickets. It turns out that hotel prices in Hong Kong are insane.
