Spring

Useful information and tips about traveling to Korea during spring. Cherry blossoms, spring flowers, festivals and more in Seoul and beyond.

Seasonal Focus

Spring in South Korea

Spanning the months of March, April and May, spring in Korea is full of colour and optimistic vibes. March brings the first cherry blossoms of the season, followed by azalea, tulips, and more in April and May. Lotus lantern festivals light up the country for Buddha’s birthday, drone shows illuminate the sky above Seoul, and there’s just way too much to do.

Spring weather is some of the best of the year, but you might have to contend with some polluted air. Make sure to pick up a mask when you need it, and as always, wear the most comfortable shoes you own, for thousands of steps.

What is the best time to visit?

Every month of spring in Korea is comfortable climate wise, but visit after mid-March if you’d like to see plum blossoms and sansuyu blooming in the south. The beginning of April is when you’ll find cherry blossoms colouring Seoul pink, but some of the absolute best festivals of the year, happen at the end of April and into May.
