Black’s Epic Adventures Photo Contest

I saw this contest over at On The Luce, and thought I’d throw my hat in the ring. A chance for free travel should never be ignored. πŸ˜‰

Outdoor gear provider, Black’s Epic Adventures Photo Contest invites amateur photographers and bloggers to submit outdoor and nature photos that reflect the themes of wild, fast, panoramic and epic.

The prize? A chance to win Β£2000 to spend on one of Explore’s epic adventures around the world, whether it be cycling through French vineyards, traversing mysterious Azerbaijan or lounging on the beach in Martinique.

WILD: Lion in the Serengeti

Spanning 30,000 square kilometres across Tanzania and Kenya, there’s nowhere on earth quite like the Serengeti. Capturing this majestic male lion, sniffing the air and surveying the landscape, was a definite highlight.

PANORAMIC: Jordan’s Wadi Rum

The Valley of the Moon is an appropriate alternative name for Wadi Rum. The scenery, sands and rocks of this Jordanian valley are so remote and exotic, that it feels almost alien.

EPIC: A Bali Sunset

The sunsets of this Indonesian island are so picturesque and stunning that it wouldn’t surprise me if you confused this photo for art. I still marvel at the captures I was able to make off our apartment’s balcony.

FAST: Iguazu’s Rushing Waters

This was the category that I found the most difficult to fulfil. While we were lucky enough to see and photograph a cheetah in the wild, it wasn’t doing much but relaxing under a tree. So much for land’s fastest animal! πŸ˜‰

I finally settled on the rushing waters of Argentina’s Iguazu Falls. At the Garganta del Diablo’s U-shaped chasm, 14 different falls plunge more than 350 feet. The mist from the force of all this rushing water can reach up to 490 feet!

Enter the competition by creating a blog post with photos corresponding to the above categories, and then tweet the link to @Blacks_Online using the hashtag #epicadventures. And if you don’t have a blog, don’t worry, you can still enter the contest by visiting Black’s Facebook page.

Now this isn’t required to enter the contest, but I’m going to tag a few travel bloggers to enter…mostly because I’m curious about what you’ll come up with. But hurry! The contest ends on May 5th at midnight.

  1. Great choices! I love the wild lion photo – a safari is a big travel dream of mine.

    • Thanks Lucy! and for letting all of us know about the contest! πŸ™‚ Safari is pretty amazing and I would definitely recommend the Serengeti over other places. We visited other game reserves including the Ngorongoro Crater on our safari, and the Serengeti was the only place that felt truly wild. Really special.

  2. Thanks so much for letting me know about the contest… OK I’ll dive into the archives and see what I can find. Although I am not sure I can compete with your amazing pics and choices!

Some of the categories were tough so I had to get extra creative and strech it out πŸ˜‰

  4. Omigod! You have a very great chance of winning. No bias! Good luck, like you need it. Your selections are on point. It really tells that you’ve been to so many places, and a variety at that.
Thanks for you tagging me. I actually knew about this contest from another blogger friend. I decided that I will enter mine later than the deadline so I won’t be part of the contest. I want to give other blogger friends the better chance of winning. Ha! πŸ˜€ I kid. With those images, forget about me.

    • Haha, thanks for being so kind to the rest of us bloggers and at least giving us a shot at winning. πŸ˜‰ I’m glad you think the photos are good enough. I don’t think we’ll win, but it was still fun to go through my photos and try to pick something that fit properly.

  5. I’m so sad to have missed the deadline for this! We’ve been super, super busy these last few months and I barely have time to keep up with reading blogs, let alone writing. Still, I may try to create a post around this theme, even if I can’t enter the competition. Thanks for the invitation to join in the fun.

    • Seriously, blogging should be a full time job. It is really difficult to stay on top of things. I’d love to see your post around the theme though… πŸ˜€
