The Maldives has a reputation for being one of the world’s most exquisite countries – rich with marine life, incredible water, blindingly white sand beaches and a Robinson Crusoe-esque solitude.
I have to agree. In all my travels around the globe, I’ve never set eyes on a more stunning natural environment. It literally left me breathless at times.
It also happens, that the Maldives is our planet’s lowest country, with an average ground level elevation of just 1.5 metres above sea level. And I’ll tell you what that means. Gob-smackingly gorgeous sunsets. Sunsets that turn the sky into a prismatic canvas of undeniable beauty.
It’s a damn good end, to an already amazing day.

Deep breath and soak it all in… Lovely. Most beachy holidays I’ve had have dull, pale sunsets. Surprisingly the most stunning was the brilliant citrus oranges in Shanghai from the hallway outside our apartment. All the bad air maybe contributed to some beauty and brilliant colours π
Shelley @Travel-Stained
Lol, well at least the bad air was good for something! π But that sucks that you’ve never had an amazing sunset on one of your beach vacays. π
CanadianTravelBugs
But that is OK because the peace and clean air was worth it π
sustainabilitea
Lovely.

How beautiful! You must have amazing babymoon π I haven’t written about amazing sunset yet but yup, I have seen beautiful sunsets during my travels..best wishes <3
Shelley @Travel-Stained
The babymoon was pretty amazing, if I do say so myself. π Indonesia has some of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve seen, so I’m betting you’ve seen quite a few, during your travels there. Time for a sunset post!! π

Beautiful. Darwin’s Mindil Beach (Australia) has pretty great sunsets. I think you’d enjoy Darwin and the Northern Territory. https://donotwalkonthegrass.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/img_0954.jpg
Shelley @Travel-Stained
Lovely photo! π Yes, indeed…we really need to get ourselves to Australia. Huge gap in our travels there…completely unexplored territory.
Johanne
You will be welcome at our place when you come!
Shelley @Travel-Stained
Really?!! That’s so amazing! π K, I’m booking our plane tickets now. :p

Never seen such a wonderful sunset! We had our eyes on a trip to the Maldives but in the end we had to cancel it as we just have not enough time with our own business now. But there is still hope for the next years π
Shelley @Travel-Stained
Haha, just make sure you get there before the Maldives sinks beneath the water, never to be seen again! π
CrazyChineseFamily
I guess we still have a few years before its below water :p

Gorgeous sunsets
Shelley @Travel-Stained
Undeniably beautiful indeed! π
tefltravelling
I haven’t seen many sunsets that would trump this.
Shelley @Travel-Stained
It was definitely one of the best ones we’ve ever seen. Maybe because of the low elevation, the sun appeared absolutely huge on the horizon!
spiritofdragonflies
Looks beautiful!
Shelley @Travel-Stained
It was absolutely stunning! Definitely an evening well spent. π
