Summer in South Korea

Spanning the months of June, July, and August, summer in Korea is a scorcher. It might be hotter and more humid than you ever thought possible, but there’s also a ton of crazy water-based events, and festivals that only work in hot weather. These are definitely the months to enjoy one of Korea’s many beaches, and admire serene lotus flowers which only bloom in torrid temperatures.

When the weather is this challenging, it’s doubly important to gear up properly, hydrate well, and take breaks in cool locations. That way you’ll be able to explore the many summer festivals, events, and activities on offer in Seoul and beyond safely.

What is the best time to visit?

I’m not gonna lie. I wouldn’t visit Korea in summer by choice. I get though that it’s the only season many people can get time away from school or work. If that’s your situation, I’d aim for as early in June as possible, or as late in August as possible. It’s still hot at those times, but much more tolerable than the dead of summer.
